HEART is the theme for October. The heart is where dreams, desires, and our sense of purpose originate. How can we allow the heart to guide our lives? A good place to begin is with unconditional love, for ourselves and for others, which energizes and inspires us.
When we genuinely love ourselves and our dreams, that love naturally radiates outward, touching those around us. As a famous song says: “Learning to love yourself is the greatest love of all”.
Balance and patience are key qualities. Whenever we become impatient with ourselves or others, it is time to step back, take a break, and refocus on the good, kind, loving center within. Maintaining a balance between the head and the heart is essential. However, the HEART needs to lead. The energy comes from the heart, like the engine of a car, while the intellect gathers the facts to direct the enthusiasm and desires from the heart successfully. The heart needs the head because, without those organizing skills, a person might go in circles. The intellect maintains the direction for the feelings of the heart to be fulfilled. When a person’s decisions align with their HEART, all is well.
Children often radiate joy, simply being present in the moment. How can we, as adults, stay connected to that same spirit?
Here are some simple ways to remain centered in the heart throughout your day:
- Begin each morning with a cleansing or clearing technique, take a walk, do yoga or deep breathing, etc. You have to find a way that works for you!
- Meditate on an inspiring quotation or affirmation to start your day with enthusiasm.
- Listen to positive and uplifting music. Sing a joyful song!
- Daily take breaks, “smell the roses”, and enjoy your accomplishments!
- Detach from any negative energy, thoughts or feelings to stay on your pivot point from your heart.
“You are a child of the universe, no less than the trees and the stars…” You have a right to be here and to live your unique dreams. Embrace your true nature, the good, kind, and loving self, and live from your heart.
