Science tells us that about every seven years, we experience a complete renewal of the physical body. While science explains this as a biological process, it also invites a deeper reflection. From a spiritual perspective, these cycles mirror our inner development as well.
As we are constantly changing and developing, so too is our soul part. Our state of consciousness and feeling nature also mature over time. Mind, body, and soul evolve together through each transitional cycle. When we understand our seven-year cycles, life becomes simple as we realize that we are spiritual, organic matter on a developmental journey to become one with all things.
Our physical body is temporary; however, our soul is eternal. In fact, it is our soul that keeps the cells of our physical body together. When we pass on or make our transition, our soul part moves back out to the cosmos, as it no longer has a physical body to serve as an anchor. This is clearly noticeable as there will be three things missing from the physical body: the heat, the power or energy and the intelligent part. Our temporary physical body will then break down and go back to dust, a natural ebb and flow of life.
To make the most of our development mentally, spiritually and physically, acknowledging that we are a soul with a physical body can have a tremendous positive effect on our overall wellbeing, mind, body and spirit, all working in synchronicity towards balance as we grow through our seven-year cycles.
Balance brings purpose and direction into our lives, along with joy and freedom to just be our evolving selves. It can be of great benefit to note and see how far we have come, where we are now, and where we want to be. Reflection helps us see the patterns that shaped us and the wisdom we’ve carried forward.
If we take the time to briefly look back to our first seven years. How did I feel? What were my experiences?
Then look back to the 7–14-year cycle. How did I feel? What were my experiences?
Then do the same for the 14–21-year cycle, then 21-28 and 28-35, then 35-42.
Are you able to identify and see how much has changed or is changing? In the physical, growth is temporary. In the spirit of our eternal self, we are constantly growing.
Life is constantly changing because you are constantly changing. As we learn to work with these natural transitions, we may find a deeper sense of peace in knowing that nothing is out of place. Each stage of life is a stepping stone to understanding ourselves more deeply as we move forward with greater ease in our ever-evolving selves.
