“Stimulus” can appear in quiet ways. It can sneak in when we are busy doing other things. It can be that faint pull to do a certain thing, to reach out to someone, to go here or there, to do this or that, to stop, to proceed.
If we recognize the nudge and act on it, there can be beneficial results from the action. We can meet someone meaningful, reconnecting or enjoying a new connection. We can get informed of an opportunity or an upcoming event that will benefit us. We can feel refreshed and renewed by trying something new or adopting a new practice. Rejuvenating and inspiring opportunities are all around us! Are you paying attention to the stimulus that comes your way?
It can be like things blowing in the wind. Behind the flurry of particles and dust flying around, there can be a nugget waiting to be discovered. And when we do, it can enrich our lives, bringing us more joy and fulfillment.
It takes courage to act on the quiet stimulus we receive from the spirit world. First, we need to discern that we are being presented with something worth listening to. How often do you dismiss such inspiration that appears like a shadow through the stream in your mind? “Did I really get that message?” you may wonder as it goes fleeting on past. That may be a good time to stop and evaluate what you received, discern where it is coming from, and sense if and when you should do something about it.
We may find ourselves motivated to take positive action to be healthier, more energized, more relaxed or more creative. This may appear as an inner prompt to:
- Pay more attention to your diet, what you need versus what you want or habitually eat.
- Drink more water, take more deep breaths, get grounded, be aware.
- Take some chill-out time – go for a walk, a bike ride, a swim, a stroll in nature.
- Take a dance, tai chi, yoga or Zumba class to feel more alive, alert, awake and enthusiastic.
- Find a new one or pick up an old creative outlet such as painting, music, sewing, photography, baking, gardening, etc.
- Journal, regroup or write an article.
Let those sparks of creativity touch you, stimulate you to engage in a creative pursuit. Let your hair down, put your phone down and take a step forward. Doing so may transport you out of your everyday circumstances and shake off the doldrums, acting like a breath of fresh air to revive and recalibrate you if you are feeling blue, stuck, or a little off.
When we heed the inspirational stimulus that comes our way, we are blessed with good fortune. Break away from the ordinary and engage yourself in an activity that will refresh your body, mind and spirit. Be open to your greater good!
